POSTMEN, also known as Remon Stotijn, is a groundbreaking crossover
artist who has been scoring chart topping hits since the late 90’s
with songs like “Cocktail”, “Crisis”, “U Wait” and “Downhill”. His
debut album with the formation Postmen “Documents” (1998) went Gold
while receiving critical acclaim and numerous Dutch awards such as
‘De Zilveren Harp’ ‘De Popprijs’ and the ‘Gouden Greep Lifetime
Achievement Award’.
Remon Stotijn established himself not only as the performing artist
POSTMEN, but as a very able producer, writer and composer. He has
worked on a wide range of projects, most notably the hit songs “Good
God” and “Jerusalem” he wrote for platinum-selling Dutch singer
Anouk. Remon’s talent, creativity and contagious enthusiasm always
brings out the best in the artists he works with.
As POSTMEN, he stands out because of his solid live performance and
unique sound. This can be best described as an original mix of
crossover hip hop, reggae and pop. On stage POSTMEN is supported by
the remarkable voice of Alyssa Stotijn, and a top notch guitarist,
drummer and bass player.
In 2011 POSTMEN released his 6th album, Apples & Oranges through
PIAS, spawning the hit single “She Knows”. After almost 15 years,
Remon Stotijn is still going strong in the music scene. Expect many
more hit songs written, produced and performed by POSTMEN in the
near future.
Destine is Holland’s response to bands such as Paramore, Fall Out
Boy and All Time Low. With its distinctive American sound, it seems
like only a matter of time before Destine becomes an established
name. The debut album ‘Lightspeed’ was released in the Netherlands
in February 2010 and was an instant success. The album and singles
reached the charts, had lots of radio airplay and the band played
the country’s most well known festivals Lowlands and Pinkpop. In
November 2010 the album was released in thirteen other European
countries.
The single ‘Stars’ is on the playlist of all of Holland’s biggest
radio stations for over 9 months. Radio station 538 also
acknowledges the band’s potential by picking ‘Stars’ as radio smash
hit of the week in September 2009. The band’s first two music
videos, both recorded in San Francisco, are Youtube-smashers with
both more than a million views; ' Stars' has also been nominated for
'Video of the Year' at the Dutch MTV-channel. All this attention
translates to the ticket sales for their first headlining tour in
early 2010, with 12 sold out shows.
Back in time. Destine kicks off in 2007 with the ambition to play
and work their asses of. They release their first EP and play over
200 shows in 3 years, both domestic and abroad. Besides that they
invest a lot of time in their online activities on social and
digital media, underlining the direct interaction with their fans.
In December 2008 Destine signs with record label Sony Music and
travels to Orlando, Florida to record the debut album with producer
James Paul Wisner, who worked with bands like Paramore and New Found
Glory. He is impressed by the songs and is convinced that the band
has the potential of achieving international success.
Aside from their domestic shows, the band has a wider focus. They've
toured in more than 15 different European countries, played with
bands like Green Day, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, All Time Low and New
Found Glory and have done two full European tours with The Blackout
(UK) and Attack! Attack! (UK). When the song ‘In Your Arms’ got
featured in the popular computergame ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2011’ the
response from people all over the world increased rapidly. Summer
2011 the band embarks on a tour in China and Japan, with bands such
as Mayday Parade. Followed with a spot on Czech Republic’s biggest
festival Rock For People.
In 2011 the new singlse ‘Stay’ and 'Thousand Miles' get released,
produced and mixed by James Paul Wisner and David Bendeth (Paramore,
Papa Roach, All Time Low). 'Stay' gets chosen as powerplay song of
the week on the biggest Dutch radio station 538.
Vanuit de Rotterdamse binnenstad bundelen drie talenten hun
krachten. Onder de naam Capitol Hill zijn zij vastberaden hun
weg te banen in het door pop/r&b electro gedomineerde
landschap dat de muziekindustrie anno 2011 vorm geeft.
Ex–Romeo zanger Clifton Bryan Giersthove zag mogelijkheden toen
hij in het voorjaar van 2010 werd benadert door Demis “PRO-X”
Rolador, de wederhelft van de Rotterdamse groep BS-ONE voor de
productie van diens tweede solo album.
Na de opname van het eerste nummer legde Bryan zijn plannen voor
aan PRO-X,
een groep oprichten met internationale ambities.
PRO-X zette zijn plannen voor een soloalbum in de ijskast en
gedreven door het enthousiasme van Bryan gingen zij actief
opzoek naar vrouwelijke vocalen voor de nieuw te vormen band.
Aanvankelijke hadden zij het idee voor een viertal, maar al gauw
werd duidelijk date een drietal de beste optie was. Een
zoektocht naar talent via sociale media leverde de nodige
teleurstellingen en minder getalenteerde kandidaten op.
Totdat Bryan zich zijn ontmoetingen herinnerde met Odile Cheryl
Dragman. Een jonge zangeres die al langer aan de weg timmerde
via talentenjachten als IDOLS.
Bryan had in het verleden al gewerkt met de stoere Odile en wist
van haar “streetwise vocals”. In 2003 werkte het tweetal al
samen aan een album “Betterdayz” en omdat platenlabels het
talent niet wisten te waarderen brachten ze zelf het nummer
“Don’t Leave” uit in 2006.
Na het contact met Odile te hebben gelegd, was de groep
een feit. De eerste demo die zij als groep opnamen was “Too
Much” een humoristiche kijk op het uitgave patroon van
“golddiggers”.
Bryan begon met het schrijven van tracks en liet zich sturen
door de kritische oren van PRO-X en Odile. Aanvankelijk werkte
zij onder de naam New Presidents, maar moesten deze naam
laten vallen omdat varianten van deze groepsnaam reeds in omloop
waren.
Tijdens de productie van het nummer “Soldier” kwam Bryan met de
naam Capitol Hill, een verwijzing naar het Amerikaanse
overheidsgebouw.
De stijl van Capitol Hill ontwikkelde zich in rap tempo tot een
combinatie van rap en rock. De teksten van Capitol Hill hebben
een sterk gevoel van rechtvaardigheid ten opzichte van de
zwakkeren in de samenleving waar dan ook ter wereld.
Veel van de besproken issues op het debuutalbum “State of the
Union” zijn internationaal herkenbaar. Toch hebben Bryan, PRO-X
en Odile een duidelijke voorkeur voor de Amerikaanse invloed op
de wereld.En zolang deze wereld in beweging is blijft Capitol
Hill erover schrijven.
Note to Amy doesn’t like to be pigeonholed. The five members are
influenced by such a wide array of musical styles that they just had
to come up with something unique. Punk rock, metal, emo, heavy rock…
it’s all there. And so are the soaring melodies, crushing riffs,
pounding drums, catchy vocals and dark lyrics. This Dutch band
doesn’t exactly take the easy way out.
The members got together around the summer of 2005 and almost
immediately started playing live. Since then they did gigs with acts
like Coheed And Cambria (US), Silverstein (CA), Cancer Bats (CA),
Samiam (US), The Draft (US), The Hard-Ons (AU), Gob Squad (DK), Face
Tomorrow (NL) and the label mates of LastDayHere (SI) in Dutch
venues like Melkweg (Amsterdam), Tivoli (Utrecht), Bibelot
(Dordrecht) and W2 (Den Bosch).
Note to Amy’s appearance didn’t stay unnoticed. The band did some
demo recordings of which three tracks were used for an MTV show. The
song Mrs. Insane even got the band to win the Dutch title in online
contest Burnout Bandslam, held by game developer Electronics Arts.
The self-released debut E.P. The Lady’s First Song got raving
reviews in Dutch magazines like Live XS, Aardschok, Up Magazine, OOR
and Rock Tribune. Following the release the band played a fair deal
of shows.
The band’s first full length album Midnight Arsons/Morning Ghosts
was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jochem Jacobs and Bouke Visser
at Split Second Sound studios in Amsterdam (Textures, Autumn, The
Lucifer Principle, Stream Of Passion). The album shows an incredible
growth in both sound and song writing and features guest appearances
by (ex-)members of Antillectual, New Pokerface, Midnight Menace and
Screw Houston, Start Screaming! The artwork was done by Dutch
painter Jasper de Gelder, from the series Hunting Birds.
In 2010 the band released a single for the song Deflower, did a
number of acoustic shows and got signed to Graviton Music Services.
In support of the upcoming album, the guys also did a video for Love
Is A Dog From Hell. The video was shot guerilla style in the crowded
centre of Amsterdam on a Saturday afternoon and vividly tells the
story of the song.
Midnight Arsons/Morning Ghosts was released on June 17th 2011. The
thirteen energetic, catchy and hard rocking songs already gained
praise in like Aardschok (NL), Big Cheese (UK), File Under (NL),
Mass Movement (UK), MusicFrom.nl (NL), Muziek.nl (NL), OOR (NL) and
Rock Tribune (BE). Besides that out of 250 contestants Note to Amy
was selected to play the 1st Eurock Marathon in Athens, Greece on
December 3rd, 2011..
Frontman Geoffrey Harreman (gitaar/zang) en Steven van Wees
(drums) hebben nog maar zeer recent het groovende Rock 'n' Roll
duo "We Sell Guns" opgericht.
Op 3FM zijn ze al te horen geweest en stonden bovendien al op de
Luisterpaal ! Deze muzikanten weten een sound neer te zetten die
voor liefhebbers van
The Black Keys of The White Stripes nog eens heel interessant
kan klinken !
Winnaar van de Grote Prijs van Zuid Holland 2012
Wat is
de Grote Prijs van Zuid-Holland:
Binnen de GPZH wordt er gestreden in 4 categorieën: Bands,
Urban, Singer/Songwriter en Dance & Producers. De GPZH
fungeert als professioneel podium voor bands en acts om hun
kunsten in de bovenste regionen van de Zuid-Hollandse scene te
vertonen en heeft daarnaast een uitgebreid prijzenpakket te
bieden. Het prijzenpakket bestaat o.a. uit prijzengeld ter waarde
van 8.000 euro, optredens, diverse workshops en masterclasses,
fotoshoots, cd persing, studiotijd en een promotioneel natraject.
Alle inzendingen worden nauwgezet beluisterd door professionals
uit de popscene zoals programmeurs, journalisten, gevestigde
muzikanten, radiomakers, producers, platenbazen etc. Iedere
inzending krijgt een juryrapport waarin wordt onderbouwd waarom
men wel of niet door is, veelal met bruikbare tips. Uit de
inschrijvingen worden de zes finalisten per categorie
geselecteerd. In de finales wordt met een nieuwe frisse groep
juryleden gewerkt, wederom professionals uit het werkveld.
Deejay Jerome
Deejay Jerome is een
zéér veelzijdige DJ die week in week uit door het
hele land in clubs, bars en discotheken draait. Deejay Jerome
heeft op dit moment drie vaste residenties, in De Babbel Apeldoorn
(elke 2e donderdag en 3e zaterdag van de maand), De Babbel
Barneveld (elke 2e en 4e vrijdag van de maand) en Grand
Café Premier in Ede (iedere 1e, 3e en 4e donderdag en elke
1e zaterdag van de maand).
Naast het DJ-en in clubs, bars en discotheken draait hij ook
wekelijks door heel Nederland nog vele besloten feesten, zoals
bruiloftsfeesten, themafeesten, bedrijfsfeesten, schoolfeesten,
personeelsfeesten etc. waarvan hij er inmiddels al vele honderden
op zijn naam heeft staan.
Deejay Jerome is qua muziek van alle markten thuis. Van de meest
moderne Dance, R&B, Bubbling, Reggaeton, Lounge, Reggae,
HipHop, Salsa, Latin, NLtalig, Skihut/Feestmuziek tot de jaren 70,
80 en 90 en natuurlijk alle hits van nu.
Door Deejay Jerome geproduceerde mixen werden uitgezonden bij het
beroemde Dance Trax van Martijn Krabbe bij de Tros op 3FM en bij
verschillende regionale en lokale radiostations. Strakke mixen in
de juiste toonhoogte zitten hem dan ook in het bloed. Behalve
mixen produceert Deejay Jerome ook eigen muziek.
Naast al het bovenstaande draaide Deejay Jerome oa. In Get Back en
Plan C in Rotterdam. In het buitenland draaide hij in diverse
discotheken in Spanje (oa. Paco’s en Ronzey Club aan de Costa Del
Sol), in Duitsland (Der Obere Alp) en in Zwitserland.
Door zijn vele jaren ervaring wordt elk feest of festival waar
